FactCheck.org: Fair and Balanced?
I would like to hear opinions on this site, whose stated goal is to "to reduce the level of deception and confusion in U.S. politics," especially in "TV ads, debates, speeches, interviews, and news releases."
If you think they're right-tilted, provide an example. Likewise, if you think they're liberal minded, tell me why you think so. As for me, I feel its a handy site, which actually seems to strive for accuracy and proper citing. I feel infinitely more comfortable believing these guys than any Micheal Mooreish leftists sites, or the Sean Hannityish rightwinger sites. |

Re: FactCheck.org: Fair and Balanced?
I only used it once for a report on health care plans during the campaign. I found it a very useful source.

Re: FactCheck.org: Fair and Balanced?
I like them...
my fav. is Dick Cheney using them as a reference on John Edwards during the VP debates, and then Factcheck coming back saying "uh, no Dick, we didn't say that..." RB |

http://www.factcheck.org/article261.html On the Halliburton mess alone, those two links should show that both sides twist the facts. |

Re: FactCheck.org: Fair and Balanced?
If both sides say look it up on factcheck.org, that's fine with me...

Re: FactCheck.org: Fair and Balanced?
Looking at the site, this seems devoid of rhetoric (yay), willing to show both sides misleading (yay). That said, they may stack the deck. Still, most impressive.

Here's the thing though, a lot of stuff said on this board is falsefied or at least put in perspective as misleading by these guys. Genearally I must ask, how can you fox newsers survive with this site? Either a) you're information source is wrong or misleading on many accounts or b) these guys are somehow biased/tilted. They seem almost invinsible to to b) as you look at their articles. Anyone think otherwise? |

http://www.factcheck.org/article261.html [/ QUOTE ]I really liked factcheck until I read that article. Congressional report finds Vice President still has financial interest in his old company. - But then, you know those congressional reports are just a part of the liberal media .. http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,12271,1239065,00.html But still, factcheck's 95% dead-on rate is better than you'll find anywhere else. |
