Re: It really is just a game

only skimmed it, but if you put stratego that low (with monopoly higher) i've already wasted my time [/ QUOTE ] He is correct. There is an opening set in Stratego that cannot be beaten. Thus, more skill in Monopoly. |

Re: It really is just a game
I've always loved my opening set, but it's been beaten before.

Re: It really is just a game
Fabulous post. Here’s a start chart for monopoly (presume six-handed game)
Early position: Raise with any two monopolies, or middle-four monopoly (light purple, orange, red or yellow). Call with any other monopoly. Middle position: Raise with any two monopolies or any monopoly besides dark purples. Call with dark purples and two-thirds of any two monopolies. Facing a raise, rereaise with two monopolies. Call with a middle-four monopoly. Late position: Raise with any one monopoly or two-thirds of at least two monopolies. Facing a raise, reraise with any two monopolies, possibly a middle-four monopoly and call with any monopoly. Can be a little more aggressive with three or four railroads. After that, you’d have to autoplay the actual “post-flop” game on a computer, otherwise, you’d only get in one “hand” every three hours. A little off-topic, but if you want play a good version of monopoly, double the cost of of buying every property and mortgaged properties go back to the bank. Now you've got a game with more decisions, auctions and more strategy than Stratego. |

[/ QUOTE ] Ok, the chance of starting with a specific three-property monopoly in a six-handed game would be 1/216, 1/36 for a two-property monopoly, so my starters were way too tight. I'm just not gonna do the math for a better chart. |
