AK all in?
Multi table tourney on PP. 140 left out of 690, 70 spots paid. I have $2,300 on the button $150 -$300 blinds. 1 limper, a LP raise to $800 and I go all in on the button for $2,300. Afterwards I thought by raising I am giving him 2 1/2 to 1 to call. If I smooth call, I have position and go all in if he checks the flop or fold if he bets and I miss. By smooth calling I stay alive if the flop hits the original raiser and misses me.
Any comments? |

Re: AK all in?
2.5/1 is a great price to lay if he has a weaker Ace then you.
If he has a PP then you are off to a race with great odds. The problem with calling and folding if you miss the flop, is that 2/3 times you will miss it completely. AK wants to see 5 cards, and a pocket pair prefers to act after the flop. If he has a PP... dont give him that luxury. You need chips, and this is normally a good spot to go after them. |

Re: AK all in?
You need to double up. You have to push here. You can't call 800 and fold to a missed flop with only 2300 chips and leave youself with 5 BB's.
If the flop comes all rags you can't let a hand like AJ/AQ bluff you out with a continuation bet. Get them all in and try and get some chips that you can do damage with or bust and move on to the next tourny. |

Re: AK all in?
If you flat call then the limper will get ~5:1 in the pot and will call with anything.
You also don't have enough chips to play after the flop or get away from the hand. You don't have much of a stack to protect. |
