Default Collection of Antonio Articles

the hot topic on different messageboards seems to be criticizing antonio
Not sure if this was posted before, but here are three articles from bluff similar to the all in article currently circulating (entitled "Poker Like a Rock Star"); the article mentions some of the guys in his exclusive, ultra-cool Rocks and Rings Crew---they sure sound like pimps

http://www.bluffmagazine.com/content/2004_10_35.asp
http://www.bluffmagazine.com/content/2004_12_14.asp
http://www.bluffmagazine.com/content/2005_02_52.asp

for the few who haven't read, here's the article most people are commenting on
http://www.allinmagazine.com/article...;idMagazine=29

and his website

wrote this in teh blog today...

the online poker world has a new playa to hate -Antonio Esfandiari - he's been catching [censored] for the article he wrote about going out and clubbing - but I don't see what the problem is - sheeeit - we all wanna go out late at night, get in the VIP room, meet up with the party girls in the tight pink or black dresses with no panty lines, and tell the day job to go to hell - why they're pissed at him for wanting to do it is well, obvious - been catching a lot of hell on 2+2 about it and even Paul Phillips joked in his blog that he wasnt' "that cool" and needed to tone it down - (that from Antonio's website, which is also over the top in many ways)

I do like one line from that article - he credits to Mr. Vorhaus - "You're born broke, you die broke, everything else is just fluctuation"

but he ain't Phil Hellmuth - not even close

I informed my GF that the one poker-player she thinks is 'kinda cute' is quickly becoming king of the poker-jackasses.
Explained briefly his condescending attitude towards those who actually wait in line to get in the club and how famous he thinks he is...blah blah blah.

Her attitude was pretty much 'wtf do I care? if I like to look at him (or Geogre Clooney or whoever) I don't care what he says'
....not unlike you or I thinking Alizee or Anna Kournikova or Shana Hiatt or whoever is still hot even if they were to put a lot of "I'm so famous and I'm better than you" type stuff on a blog.

I was kind of disappointed....but I found it hard to disagree.

2+2ers are JEALOUS, JEALOUS! They just can't stand a young poker player who made it big, and now is living the life of a rockstar and telling the world about it. I guess you're supposed to keep quiet right? you might not want to offend all those people that live the opposite life of what Antonio Esfandiari lives! (I guess that would be most 2+2ers)

I live the exact opposite of his life, im not jealous infact I say congratulations. Congratulations on your poker wins, keep having fun at the world class clubs, keep getting babes who are 9's, keep living!

and oh yeah, keep talking about your lavish adventures! you earned your right to do so by winning the big bucks! forget what the jealous internet idiots say! you can be arrogant if you can back it up.

Just 'cuz someone calls him a jackass doesn't mean they are jealous. Sure, most of us would rather have his bank account than ours, but that doesn't mean we want to be the dick that he is portraying himself as.
Arrogance is okay if you can back it up? I guess if you want to live that way...I'd rather be humble and liked, but whatever.

agreed.

if i won a ton of money in a couple poker tourneys I would have no problem living it up.
I also wouldn't have a problem mentioning to others 'yeah...I won a bunch of money and now i'm living it up'.

But this guy is just a jack-ass.

Not all people who have the money to live his lifestyle (or something semi-similar) are total dick-wads.
But he is.

He's also a brutal and unoriginal copy-cat mixing his swingers/studio54/cheap-trick lyrics together.

Not to mention that his behavior at the table, including the embarassing poker-wave, is REALLY brutal and immature.

I couldn't believe that stuff he wrote was not tongue-in-cheek, but I guess it's for real after reading this article below:

http://www.sfweekly.com/issues*/2004...s/feature.html

It gives his family background, and atleast indicates where all this overcompensated ego is coming from. Read it ...

From a pure writing standpoint, the article from ALL IN, for what it is, happens to be very good:
[ QUOTE ]
Once you're in that groove, the past and the future disappear, and all you have is the hot, perfect now. It's like an intense poker game, or even meditation.

[/ QUOTE ]

But he still lets us know what a retard he is:
[ QUOTE ]
To help them out, I give them my trademark "Antonio wave," and they break out into squeals of laughter. "I knew it!" shrieks one. "I knew it was him!"

[/ QUOTE ]
Give me a break.

How does one back up denigrating strangers who either don't have the same bankroll as you do or choose to spend it in a different manner? A disdainful attitude towards "budget boys" who he doesn't know and mysoginistic categorization of females aren't exactly things that i'm jealous of.
