[ QUOTE ]
Most sessions I don't chop at canterbury and nobody has taken it in a negative way at all. As worm33 said, less and less players are chopping, though.

Yes, at least at 30/60 it's worth EV(over the rake)...especially because a lot of players don't know how to play well in the blinds/HU.

[/ QUOTE ]

thats the thing...people seem to keep saying that its not worth it, its negative ev... etc... but even if it ISN"T worth it and it is negative ev (due to rake, which at higher limits is almost negligible and not even there for a time charge) i want the experience of playing more and more live HU.

if i had to PAY to do it (in the form or a relatively larger rake than exists at the higher limits), id still "pay" to not chop i think.

so thanks to everyone who responded,

-Barron

a dealer told me this story 2 weeks ago... this is sad...

folds to SB, he looks at BB and says "do you chop?", BB says yes and turns over 74o. SB then says "i raise." i wasn't there, but the dealer said the guy got pretty pissed about it.. i don't blame him. assholes like that should be shot.

Default Not chopping definately a +EV

I like not chopping and here is the reason. I like to be though of as the "villian" at the table. I want people to be out to get me. When they are, they play bad hands and go too far with them hence they are donating to your cause. When you say your not chopping the people on either side of you take it personally and they "try to get you." I like when people have vendettas against me they play much worse. I am there to make money not to make friends.

I want to work on live shorthanded more.

so much so that im willing to pay rake to do it.

so from now on, i plan on not chopping live at all.

is it worth it in terms of the table image of the rest of the table hating me for slowing down the game? being a likely outcast not chopper? etc.?

Live SH poker rulez.

You shouldn't have to worry about the rake too much as the casino should drop the rake based on the number of players in the game. We don't have time charge here in Vancouver, so when there's a 20/40 SH game going on with 4 players or less, the rake is $1 and when it's 6 or less the rake is $2. However, once that 7th player sits down, it's a full $4 rake .

It's all about how you frame the issue. It's not that I "don't chop", it's just that I "always play the blinds".
