Seven Samurai (1954).
Samurai are brought in to defend a village of farmers from looters.

I have that right next to me. I've had it for about 2 days from Netflix. Got Das Boot aswell, but the damn DVD stopped playing 2 hrs into it. Will watch 7 Samurai ASAP.

I reccommend Big Fish if you haven't seen it.

Two movies I saw recently and liked a ton are Short Cuts and Wonder Boys.

Be careful with SC though, its 3 hours.

Was Short Cuts that movie that was like a buch of disparate but intertwined stories where a kid got hit by a car? I think I saw it about 11 or 12 years ago and thought of it when I saw Pulp Fiction.

Interesting, I also have Das Boot from (Blockbuster). I can't get my self to commit the time eek
