Re: What to do with pair+OESD
Well I'd like to think I'd get a few more chips out of him if I hit the straight. But wait, it's possible I have the best hand right now - maybe he has something like AK/AQ? I get concerned with situations like this. If I call and miss, then what. So should I raise here?

I get concerned with situations like this. If I call and miss, then what. So should I raise here? [/ QUOTE ] It's a bad spot. The original bettor must have something, right? Now, granted, he might lay down here, but you don't know what's up with him because you're not closing the action. Then, when the other guy makes the big raise after raising preflop, it really looks like he might well be holding JJ or QQ, as his bet looks like it wants precisely no calls. I suppose it is possible that in light of these facts, a push might pick up the pot for you, and of course, you have outs if you're behind and called. Or you could muck your pair/OESD, which, again, might not get paid off if you call and hit. P.S. In case I forgot to mention it, you're not ahead about 85% of the time here. |
