Default Overcards check-raised HU

Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (10 handed)

No real read on villain---he had just joined table and wasn't in my PT database.

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
4 folds, <font color="blue"> Hero raises </font> , 3 folds, <font color="red"> SB calls </font>, BB folds.

Flop: (5 SB) J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img],7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img],5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, <font color="blue"> Hero bets </font> , <font color="red"> SB raises </font> , <font color="blue"> Hero calls </font> .

Turn: (4.5 BB) 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB bets, Hero folds.

Yeah? Should I have raised flop (1 more SB) to possibly see river card for free?

The pot's not large enough for that. You're risking another SB, plus the chance of getting capped, to less than double your winning chances. In a larger pot it's a worthwhile idea, but not here. You could be drawing very thin (against a hand like AJ) or nearly dead, or even dead.

I play this hand the same way.
