Laying down cowboys with not particularly threatening board?
Party 6-max 50 NL...
Been here a while, got 30 or so hands on villain... Table is pretty loose-agressive but haven't noticed any real maniacs. Villain has +40% VPIP, but it's shorthanded only so it's not totally crazy. Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 6 handed) converter BB ($50) UTG ($156.85) MP ($58.3) Hero ($75.3) Button ($43.85) SB ($57.3) Preflop: Hero is CO with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.25. 1 fold, MP raises to $2, Hero raises to $5, 3 folds, MP raises to $20, Hero calls $15. Flop: ($40.75) 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) Villain goes all in. Hero??? Kings are unlikely since I have them. In my mind that leaves me to aces or possibly queens, both which have me beat. Of course he could have made a move on me with jacks or tens, but... that's helluwa preflop raise. The other player didn't want to show.. (gah I REALLY wanted to know, ok?). Afterwards he claimed he had AQs. As you prolly understand I folded. Thoughts? |

Re: Laying down cowboys with not particularly threatening board?
I've had the same exact thing happen to me once, except it was that put in the third raise PF. This is a good laydown, I think.

i sincerely doubt he puts in the 3rd raise preflop with AQ but who knows, they were sooted after all.

Re: Laying down cowboys with not particularly threatening board?
call me retarded (Chorus sings, "RETARDED") but I cannot yet make this fold in a shorthanded game against at player I have categorized as a LAG. If I call, he flips over QQ or AA, then I hope he sticks around because I Know I'm gonna get easy action from him (i.e. "metagame rationalization").
In a perfect world, however, I play it just you did. Probably a good fold. |

Re: Laying down cowboys with not particularly threatening board?
How many players do you see minraise preflop then put in a substantial reraise preflop with AQ? Looks like aces (small chance of QQ here) but either way he most likely had you.
He was lying about having AQ. He wanted YOU to have AQ. Looks like a good fold. |
