Default Orange County, CA area card rooms

Hey fellas. New to the boards but I hope to be able to become a solid poster here.

Anyway, I have recently moved to southern California, and so have moved away from my usual home game. Does anyone have any info on some of the local card rooms here. I am in the city of Orange in California, so I am guessing the closest casinos are the Commerce and Hollywood Park that I know of.

I prefer low-limit 7-card stud. I am working on my Hold Em game as it is spread so much more, but I am a much stronger 7-card stud player.

Any info such as which card rooms are better for 7-stud and just overall ratings of the local card rooms or any that I may have overlooked that I may wish to visit would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone.

just got back from a trip to Irvine, and I found your new county to be quite quiet. roll on up the 405 to the 605, though, and visit Hawaiian gardens. not as huge as commerce or hp, but pretty big all the same. lots of action and closer to you.

He's right about sending you to Hawaiian Gardens, I went to Chapman U in city of orange, and from there take the 22W to 605N, exit carson make a right, casino on your left. About 20min away. Commerce is about the same distance, just head straight up the 5N. Hollywood Park is the furthest away from you in the LA area.

If its stud you play, you should venture over to the Hustler in Gardena, go 91W till it ends, turn north on Vermont, about 2 miles on left. But Hawaiian Gardens is closest to you and the spread everything from 1-2 to 20-40 both stud and holdem.

Lake Elsinore also has a card room. I never played there but understand it is at least fairly large. Easy to find. Just go east on 91 and then south on 15. You can't miss the big sign. Depending on time of day and/or traffic it might be the easiest to get to.

Actually, Lake Elsinore has a room, I wouldn't call it big, especially by the LA county standards. They have 1 or 2 3-6 holdem games 1 6-12 holdem all kill usually one or 2 omaha games a 3-6 kill and a 3-6-9 no kill. I was there tonight, it is definately different than LA, everyone there is mostly local or at least regular, they do have tourneys there a couple of times a week too, mostly very inexpensive, some free. If you go down there, don't be surprised that it is not a large room, and if you really don't like it, Pechanga is about 15 miles south on I 15, whixh is more like a Vegas casino, and newer.

Which LA area room has the best rake for low limit (3-6 and 4-8)?

I think all the LA county clubs are the same 3+1 for 3/6, I think same for 4/8. The better deals for charge are when you move up to 15-30 they charge time, some like Hustler, Bike, and Normandie have single big blind, where Commerce, Hawaiian Gardens have small and big blinds, does not affect the rake, but you will find you do not try to defend your small blind when you do not have one

Good Luck, wait, it's not about luck??? Well, good SD then!

The Bike only charges $1 drop if there is no flop, and there are two blinds now, the Commerce charges full drop every hand.
