Then there's the article from this site that has a different view click.

[/ QUOTE ]The flaw in the reasoning behind this article (and all others like it) is that it is based on the cards only, ignoring all the other (more important) factors that contribute to your win/loss rate. Yes, your cards and odds will be the same tomorrow. BUT... Will you be the same player tomorrow? Will the other players at the table view you the same way tomorrow? Does your current session P/L impact the way you play today? Will this impact be less/more tomorrow?

Well I've recently change my way. When I would be having a losing session and my stack would be half of what I started with, I would rebuy to full so I had the others covered to try to win it back quickly, but now I just let my stack stay small and try to build it from that. Since I usually 2 table, if I lose everything on both tables, I just quit. No more losing 3 or 4 buyins in a session trying to win it back.
And of course when I'm winning, I keep playing. I'll stop when I'm tired.

i rebuy if my stack is 1.5BB below full. if you're a winning player, why would you ever want to have less than a full stack?

EDIT: ...other than the buying short strategy. i meant if you typically buy max, you should always rebuy to the max.

Just to be a nit ..... every time I see somebody who rebuys to the max constantly, I am instantly aware that they have some idea what they're doing. The total fish never do it. Early in a session, I've already got a decent read on anybody doing it and can adjust my play accordingly.

That's not to say topping off is a bad idea (it definitely isn't), but you asked for a reason so there you go.

i think that if you can keep your emotions under control and maintain a constant (winning) level of play then your wins/losses shouldn't be a factor as to the amount of time you spend in a session. a more important factor is whether or not the table has plenty of weak players with deep pockets. of course, this is provided that you are adequately bankrolled for the game. what i do is set a certain number of hands i want to play in a session and never leave early unless i feel myself tilting or unable to play decently due to hunger/fatigue/etc. i will play more hands if the game has some exceptionally bad players that fall outside of 2 standard deviations of awful from the average small stakes nl player on party.

Great article and I couldnt agree more! I find that when I am playing NL, and win a few big hands I get excited, like you said. That impaires my judgement and almost makes me feel invinsible. Once I start to get that "I can't be stopped" feeling, its time to stop!

There's some wisdom and some misinformation in that quote. Be careful.

Edit: Misinformation: What does she mean by "when you're winning"?
