Default MASH

For those who haven't read me in other forums, I was raised on cards. My grandfather had me playing gin Rummy at three, cribbage at 4, pinnochle at 6, and bridge by age seven. Poker was the natural evolution of these skills and I have been playing since I was 11. Essentially, I've played every game out there and I vainly believe that there are few card players alive that can beat me at all of the forementioned.

Except my teacher.

At age 87, my grandfather (who had two strokes, a heart attack and pnemonia all in a period of two months last fall) spent the weekend handing my ass to me. We played, in four and a half days, 93 games of cribbage. The bet was a quarter a point, 50 cents on a skunk. (for those that don't play, that's a pretty sizeable amount for a friendly game between loved ones.) I lost exactly 62 of those games. Most were close, but he won exactly 2/3rds of the games we played and I couldn't be happier. At 87, despite everything he's had to deal with this year, he's still the toughest nail in the box. God Bless Him.
I now introduce a new acronym that I will perpetuate through my days as an internet poster, in his honor: mash.

My.
Ass.
Still.
Hurts.

This is in honor of Robert Richards, arguably the best player you will never know. He's my grandpa and I love him.

Thanks for reading!
Eric

lol... My cousin says he hasn't beaten him in a single game of cribbage in over a month. Old SOB is making a living on us one two-bit at a time.

Thanks Josh;
I hope I'm half as good as he is when I'm his age. He's forgotten more than most players in these forums (myself included), will ever know.
Incidently, he used to play pool with Amarillo Slim in the war! Spent three months playing pool after he got injured in a land mine accident.
my best,
Eric

Thanks TT,
He's the spitting image of what I see myself like, physically and mentally, in 60 years. Thanks for reading!
My best,
Eric
