Also, if you have decent software that will take care of all the Swiss stuff, then maybe it'd make sense to go against the poll somewhat and use it. If not, maybe it'd make sense to go with the poll, which is leaning towards double elim.

Just posting to show interest in playing. I haven't posted much here recently and don't play the micros, but I'd still like to play.

(Don't worry I suck at poker)

I vote for a higher buy-in, at least $25. We should also require some srious micro board activity as a prerequisit. Strangers should be disallowed. We don't need HU specialist registering a new account to steal our jackpot. Most regular micro contributers should be similarly green at HU.

Haha yeah I'll be on the lookout for a newbie named something like ChrisDaddyFool or Middleset who posts a couple of fake AA hands where he doesn't find the raise button with the top set yet wants to throw down on a high dollar HU match.

I voted double elim, but I really like the swiss format as well...so I wouldn't mind either way.

Making the match winnings part of what winners expect to take home with them isn't fair to people whose oppoenents drop or don't show

It is only a dollar. I hope people aren't that hard up.

I plan on making a bunch of prop bets, and whatnot for anyone interested. I'm estimating my SD of this tourney in the hundreds of dollars, regardless of the buy-in.

Could someone explain a Swiss style tourney? And when will the final decision be made? I think waiting for everyone to agree will take forever. Organizers, do what you want, we'll all play, and if we don't like it, we'll do it differently next time.

BTW, thanks to those that are spearheading the effort. I look forward to playing.

One more thing, I agree that it would suck if the winner doesnt hang around to trash talk. On the other hand, since we want to learn, I don't mind having great players join us. It is an issue I will adress in a future post. We all play poker to win money, but also practice to get better. And yet we spend our time playing amongst the fish at .5/1 or 1/2 to accomplish the goal of making money. Yet, our real poker skills would be more quickly developed were we able to play against better players. Just a thought, but wouldn't it be great to play a game we could afford .5/1 or something, but know that excellent players are playing with us, and ABC poker is not enough to win money.
