Moving in? Doesn't that only get called by a better 5? Don't you want to milk the maniac if you're ahead, and not get it all in if you're behind?
Is the maniac capable of playing K5? I guess A5 is the other possibility. Call, check-call a potsized or smaller turn bet, then decide whether to call the river dependent on the size of the bet, and your read. |

You made your own bed in this hand. By calling the rocks raise instead of reraising you sent the maniac all the information he needed.
Folding was your only choice after you called the rocks' raise. The maniac was probably way behind, and probably behind the rock also. Reraising the rocks' raise was the only way not to get pushed off your hand. |

it sounds like you think he has the best hand and still is obligated to fold. this doesnt make a lot of sense to me.
i dont really understand why anyone is suggesting raising during this hand. making bets that will only get called when your losing when you have a pretty strong, not particularly vulnerable hand, isnt all that good an idea. i also dont really understand why so many people are so willing to fold. you have something like the 6th nut hand and a maniac betting at you, why isnt this a good thing. i completely understand why this is a fold against many opponents but its not against anyone i would call a maniac. letting maniacs blow off chips by betting into your strong hands is the situation your looking for. |

I don't play at this level or with stacks this deep.
Having said that, I wonder why none of you has suggested a 2/3 pot to pot sized reraise on the flop. If you call and check the turn, you clearly have learned nothing about the maniac's hand and don't know how to respond to his expected large bet. A stop and go, as some have suggested, will also help define your opponent's hand. I'm don't see why a stop and go is better than an immediate reraise - but with a good chance you have the best hand, I don't like folding or calling and checking here. Thus either a stop and go or an immediate reraise would seem to be the best options. |

I don't know who your opponents are, but I'll bet if one of them has a 5 it is paird with a 6 or a 4 so your kicker is good. Pocket kings seem highly unlikely for numerous reasons including the way it was played pre and post flop. A5 is a possibility I suppose, but in general I'd feel pretty darn confident about my hand.

convincing the maniac to stop betting in the cases where your hand is best should not be your goal. im much more interested in having him put in large bets when i have the best hand than i am in immediately finding out its best. if im misinterpretting the true nature of the villian on this hand then i can understand why folding could be a reasonable option. raising him makes no sense to me at all.

Yikes, didn't realize villian was in BB. Sorry. Please disregard what I said.
