I think you have two options on the river. Check behind, and bet/call. Betting and folding to a raise is the only unacceptable line IMO. If you fold to river raises with any regularity, someone might bluff a pot off you on the river, and that play only has to work a small fraction of the time to cost you.

When the river came down, what kind of hand could he possibly have? He called a preflop raise and a flop bet, so it's unlikely that he has the jack unless it's AJ specifically. You've been betting the whole way so if he got there on the river, he'd expect to get two bets in with a checkraise. Alternatively, he could be playing a straight draw (which got there) or a smaller pair like 99 (or 66 or a set). He could have also had two big suited cards and wanted to see a turn, picked up the draw, and stuck around.

The bottom line is there isn't a lot of value to be gotten from a value bet here, as it's more likely to cost you one (or two) bets or win zero. If he's an EXTREMELY predictable loose/passive guy then MAYBE this line is alright, but without some miraculous read I check behind and peek at his cards.

...or perhaps a made flush. I think given the completion of the straight and flush draws, I check/call the river. Although, if the players have high preflop standards, Arag is not so likely. And I can't think of many hands which would keep them around to hit the turn four flush. You might still be ahead. But to be safe, I check/call. Costs you only one bet, and you know for sure whether you were beat. As it stands now, you will never know...or do you? One more possibility is a slow-played made set. Any reads on these guys?

Edit: Sorry, just noticed you were last to act on river. Check behind!

I check behind here. To many things out there that could really suck.
