if i can muster a nice, regular poop on a given day (withOUT the need of that big rubber bag), that makes the day a good one. oye |

Re: What a PPM II semi win can buy
Missed this thread while on vacation and just catching up.
Many of the less expensive brand of DVD players are VCD compatible. This of course makes sense since the cheaper ones are made overseas where VCD is widely used. I have been recording VCDs for about 3 years now and just getting ready to purcase a DVD burner. Been waiting for teh technology to advance and the cost to com down. Heres a link to a great site for information. on burning DVD/VCD as well as compatible players and media : DVDRHELP |

1. now that i understand that the quality will be the same regardless of whether i burn it to VCD or DVD, is there going to be any loss of quality from the original VHS? [/ QUOTE ] Well, first of all, VCD quality is worse than VHS. If you capture a VHS movie and make a VCD out of it, there will be loss of quality. At least I can clearly see the reduction in resolution. When you make a DVD out of VHS, there is no loss in quality, unless you use some heavy compression option in MPEG-2.
In reply to:
2. i assume that there are no CD's that one can buy that have larger capacity, thus allowing me to put more on a VCD, but have the costs of the blank DVD-R's come down to a reasonable price? when i looked into this a year ago, the DVD-R's were $7 each. [/ QUOTE ] The largest CDs are 99 min of length, but they require special hardware to write and special CD drives to read. 80 min CDs are the largest ones that are compatible. About the link that was mentioned on DVD writers, use this link: Tom's hardware page. |

Re: Poker TV shows
Granny here is all you need:
1)All-In Wonder video card with audio/video in and out 2)DVD writer (opotional)---- you can put 2 hours on a cd with a cd writer (vcd) the only thing you have to do is go to divx.com, download thier software and encode the program in divx format, then burn to a regular cd |
