Re: LAND OF THE DEAD!!
well, it's a zombie movie - it could be like a Godzilla movie in it's plot, but George Romero did a good job with what he had budget wise (I think it got slashed in half and he had to drastically revise his script. he was gonna have zombies trained to kill zombies but it never could happen budgetwise)
G.A. Romero never gets enough credit for the stories either - each one has it's own little bits and quirks that make it relevant - the first one touched on racism, the second one touched on consumerism, the third one on Military power gone amuck - this one sorta feeds on idea of the homeless/disinfranchised at the hands of the rich/powerful - Perfect analogy in the land of the Republicans. and of course, the other interesting part of his stories is the conflict. - Basic fiction has one of four conflict formulas - 1. Man vs Man (most common) 2. Man vs Nature 3. Man vs Self 4. Man vs God - and a G.A. Romero movie focuses primarily on elements of man vs. man, with the zombies sorta being a man vs. nature sidebar that only comes into play later. In fact, as near as I can tell, in all 3 of the first movies, the undead gain access to the living only after the living has turned on each other to some degree, dropping the protection that keeps the undead out - so, no, it's a bit more then just zombie movies....at least George's movies are. Re: LAND OF THE DEAD!!
SLow moving. Romero is half Cuban, and digs the real old time authentic zombie myths. He hates the fast-moving zombies.
