Re: King Medicine Challenges ZeeGigaBot
[ QUOTE ]
I'm tired of ZeeGigaBot running his mouth off all the time. Being so, i am "calling" him out. Here are the terms: Game: 5 card draw. 5s are wild. 5 draws. call your 5s. first one to 5 points. Stakes: 55$ Stipulation: No Give Backs. The guantlet has been thrown. That should shut him up. [/ QUOTE ] Only if it as at a neutral site. Barry and Suge's house, shag carpet, 3am on a Tuesday, and no bathroom breaks and only country time and funyuns to eat, in honor of Grundilsnatch. |

Re: Negreanu Challenges Sklansky
>>Some posters suggest that great players should play each other, even if the edge is tiny at best, just as a matter of pride. I don't disagree with the concept in general.
I find this surprising. >>I only disagree as it regards poker. I disagree for different reasons. Foolish pride accomplishes nothing but to prove who the fools are. You have basically said in various posts (such as your comments on the NBC HU-T) that you consider yourself an underdog against the top tier in most high profile games. There is no reason to accept his challenge, despite the massive dick waving contest he started, unless it's for foolish pride. |

[/ QUOTE ] Really? Why? Pick a number that wouldn't negatively affect your life. Would you play David Sklansky for that amount in a freeze-out? Even though I know David ... or Daniel ... or a ton of pro's have an edge over me (and admittedly a large edge) if challenged by any of them for X amount, I'd take the challenge in a second, even if it's -EV in the short-term, as the story and the experience would be +EV in the long-term. Don't you think that's far different than doing it "just as a matter of pride"? |

Re: Negreanu Challenges Sklansky
No, I don't, nor do I think challenging your skills against better players is a bad idea from time to time.

Re: Negreanu Challenges Sklansky
Well, I just completely disagree that there isn't a difference between wanting to improve your own skill, wanting a good story, and ''just for pride''.

Re: Negreanu Challenges Sklansky
"They are different reasons, but all proper reasons"
All except ''just for pride''. If you knew I had AA, and I called you a wimp as you began to fold, would you call? If Mike Tyson taunted you for a fight, would you fight? Obviously, no and no. You can make peferfectly acceptable reasons why it would be a great idea to play Daniel, or David, or whomever, but foolish pride is simply not one of them. |

Re: Negreanu Challenges Sklansky
Good post.
I don't think anyone should play for stakes they aren't comfortable with. The folks on the sidelines like it, but it isn't their money As for Daniel's challenge, he seems to have plenty of takers, and as good as he is, if the cards run bad for him, he may come to regret the offer (unless Wynn is backing/covering him in some way).
