I've done this a bit but think just stealing the blinds is better against most. When tighties feel like they're getting fucked with, they just leave the table.

this is bad?

Yes. You don't want an uncreative, predictable tightie behind you? (sure I can wish for better; but really, is this a terribly bad situation in your view?)

He open-limped pf on the button. It wouldn't shock me if he turned over 2 UNO cards.

[/ QUOTE ]

Did he beat you with a pocket pair of "Reverse's"?

[/ QUOTE ]
Come on dude, we all know that a pair of reverses doesn't beat a pair of threes. Therefore, I challenge you to a game of heads-up no-limit UNO.

I think the profitability of a random player > weak tightie

I think betting is the worst of your river options. Either check call or check fold depending on the opponent.

[/ QUOTE ]

I disagree. I think check-folding is awful against an unknown

At 3/6 I am falling in [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] with the predictable weak-tighties. I'll take them on my left any day over a random player.

FWIW there are times when limping is the best option when it's folded to you on the button

Someone who open limps is probably passive no? I don't see the button bluffing that often. More than 1 in 5 maybe, but not enough to make folding a worse mistake than betting.

I agree with this. At first I thought that I would prefer check/call on the river instead of check/fold, because i find that a lot of people i play will bet every time the action goes like this flop and turn and then a check on the river. However I dont think the intersection of those players and players who would limp on the button is very big. Unless they were worried about not getting any action on their premium pocket pair, in which case you're done.
