Re: People setting way off the table?
I would ask his gf to move. If he was situated in such a way that he could see my hole cards despite some basic/standard methods of protection, I would simply not look at my cards. When the dealer looked at me, indicating my turn to act, I would wait for him to say something, at which point, I would say I can't look at my cards until the offender moved and stopped hanging over me or whatever.
I'm not sure why you need us to tell you this. |

Re: People setting way off the table?
I have only played live 3 or 4 times, this is why I'm asking. Usually I just play online, but I tend to like the live game much better. I just wasn't sure onhow to handle this type of situation.

Re: People setting way off the table?
Sorry, didn't realize. Yea, in genereal, when you have any kind of problem with anything that strikes you as unreasonable, don't be afraid to ask the dealer (then the floor if it is a problem with the dealer, or the dealer couldn't help) for a remedy.

Re: People setting way off the table?
Will do boom boom, being a noob in a B&M can be an intimidating experience, I didn't want to make any trouble or anything. I'm pretty sure they were both looking, but no harm came of it. I wasn't hitting anything that night anyway.

Re: People setting way off the table?
I'd normally just make passes at his girlfriend until she left, with or without me.

Re: People setting way off the table?
Yes, the guy was out of line, but like everyone has said previously, tell the dealer/floor. If you're uncomfortable with doing this, then get a seat or table change. If you are hiding your cards well enough then it is merely a comfort issue. I've had people right behind me as well but they can't see my cards unless I want them to sweat me. It's second nature to me to hide my cards every time. The only time it's a real challenge is playing Pineapple or Omaha (3 & 4 cards respectively).

Re: People setting way off the table?
LMAO yea, he was a fish, but I didn't take his money, I wasn't getting many hands that night so I never got into a hand with him.

Re: People setting way off the table?
Simplest rule in poker. Do what you need to do to protect your cards, without limitation.
Though... [ QUOTE ] It wasn't just once, it was the whole time he sat there till he went broke. [/ QUOTE ] If this is true, then what do you care? It obviously didn't help him. |
