Default @#*& Expert Folds...

It seems like the hand posts in this forum are turning into a battle of who can make the greatest fold in a big pot. That's bullshit. It's especially bad for newer players to see this crap.

In shorthanded games you should be going to showdown all the [censored] time. You should be working on extracting bets when likely ahead, and saving bets when likely behind, BUT going to showdown all the time. Too many inconsistencies in shorthanded poker.

I submit the following theory:

If:

1. The hand is heads up.
2. You have position.
3. You were the final aggressor PF.
4. Your hand is equal or greater than Ace high.

Then... you should see a showdown 100% of the time*.

*Exceptions:

a. Your opponent, regardless of VPIP, has a PFR <5 and an AGG factor <1 and he checkraises you on any street.

b. It is correct to make folds sometimes when you are checkraised on the river.

Board texture has a lot to do with when you should call down.

This advice is game specific. If you call down at pokerstars 2/4 lets say, like you would at party 10/20 you are going to bleed chips. If you fold at party 10/20 like you should at the PS 2/4 then you are going to get run over.

The advice here is not one size fits all. You have to consider advice in the context of the game you are playing.

This is a very important point...even the party 5/10 plays like the 2/4 in terms of respecting turn raises...while the 10/20 is a bit of a mess.

On a side note - the pokerroom 5/10 plays very much like the party 10/20 IMHO, very aggressive, and taking hands to showdown when they have value is key.
