Did Wynn Hire the Best Dealers
I generally go to Vegas once a year and I'm wondering if the Wynn has hired the best dealers from the Bellagio. I was in Vegas in March for the Morales-Pacquiao fight, and heard that employees were unhappy with the Bellagio because of changes instituted by the MGM.
Wynn always had a reputation for taking care of his employees, so my guess is the best dealers have moved over to the Wynn. What say the locals? |

Re: Did Wynn Hire the Best Dealers
well, according to the rumors,
Deborah (the cardroom manager, who was the cardroom manager for Canterbury Park here in Minnesota) took a bunch of Canterbury dealers with her to the Wynn. If that's the case, you'll probably have some pretty good ones - in fact, I expect that card room to be as good as ours, which I didn't think happened at any of the places I saw in Vegas - and ours was one of the best RB |

Re: Did Wynn Hire the Best Dealers
I play in most/all of the rooms in Las Vegas. I was shocked to see Wynn in fact hire some of the worst dealers in their respective rooms IMHO. Now I play on graveyard mostly mind you. So it could be that the Wynn top line dealers are dealing when I'm not in there (ie, dayshift).
FWIW, I was playing the other night in the Mirage $10-20. In my game was a very, very good dealer from the Monte Carlo. The subject of Wynn came up. She said that the Monte Carlo's best dealer was turned down by Wynn (did not get hired). So what do they (Wynn) do when good & great dealers are breaking down their door trying to get hired in the place? They go hire dealers of very questionable talent (to say the least). WTF? Howard |

Re: Did Wynn Hire the Best Dealers
Which dealer is the best at monte carlo that you were refering to? Its either the old guy who says 'take it down young feller' or the blond 50-ish year old lady who can shuffle real fast.

Re: Did Wynn Hire the Best Dealers
Michelle was playing the touney at CP on April 6. She was talking about the new job she got at Wynn. She also mentioned she was dealing in a WPT event, which I believe was the one where the drunk europeans were almost making out...

Re: Did Wynn Hire the Best Dealers
Hi Aces:
Many of the dealers appear inexperienced, but there are also some good ones. One positive point is that when I played there none of the dealers who dealt to me had a talking problem when in the box. I have always considered this to be the major problem with problem dealers in general. As I mentioned in my publisher's note for one of our magazines, all cardrooms everywhere are going to be challenged to get their dealers up to speed. Given the poker explosion there just aren't enough good and experienced dealers to go around. Cardroom management will have their work cut out for them in this area. Best wishes, Mason |

Re: Did Wynn Hire the Best Dealers
I thought the dealers were fine at the Wynn, but there are always going to be a few weak ones. FWIW, one of the dealers (who's name I did not find out, since they were not wearing name tags)on my Omaha Hi/low $20/$40 game tried to push my half of the pot somewhere else on two consecutive hands. Each time I had to ask him, "what's he (the other player) got for high?
Five minutes later a player with bills on the game gets all his chips in, and the dealer tell everybody he is all-in. When corrected, he takes a couple bills, makes change, and forgets to take $40 out for the last bet. Not too good. Dogmeat [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] |

Re: Did Wynn Hire the Best Dealers
Some of the dealers did not understand the rules of poker. Most were decent to poor and very few were really good.
So to answer your question, until some of them get fired like planned, it is kind of all over the place, but things should get straitened out. |
