Default JJ with a set on the turn...

This is my first hand post, so be gentle. I've done my best to do everything the way you guys like it. At the recommendation of another member here I'm trying to play much more aggressively than I have previously. Overall it's working out well, this hand confused me (and cost me 8 BB).

SB is 67% VPIP, 4% PFR over 75 hands. I've seen him play 100% of his SB hands.

UTG is 27% VPIP, 10.5% PFR over 48 hands.

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
UTG calls, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, CO calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">SB 3-bets</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, UTG calls, <font color="#CC3333">Hero caps</font>, CO calls, SB calls, UTG calls.

<font color="#CC3333">SB bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">UTG raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero 3-bets</font>, CO folds, <font color="#CC3333">SB caps</font>, UTG calls, Hero calls.

Turn: (13.50 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">SB bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">UTG raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero 3-bets</font>, SB calls, <font color="#CC3333">UTG caps</font>, Hero calls, SB calls.

River: (23.50 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
SB checks, UTG checks, Hero checks.

Final Pot: 23.50 BB

I knew I was in trouble when the 4th spade dropped, should I have done anything differently? I know you guys frown on posting results, so I won't post unless I'm asked to but let's just say that UTG had a really, really odd hand to have played that way.

How can you fold the turn in a 13+ BB pot when you have 9 outs to a redraw (Full House)?

I would probably have just called the turn.

Flop fold is a good idea too.

I think you played it too aggressively.

I'd call instead of capping with the Jacks.

You're faced with 2 cold on the flop with an overcard and a flush draw, against 4 opponents I'd probably be ready to say bye-bye.

I'd be interested to know what UTG had, seeing him limp and then call the 3-bet is a bit odd.

Personally I would've let this go on the flop.

Hey Greg,

I like your preflop cap (against most opponents), but I'll be honest: I'd curse and fold the flop. I don't see a reason to be 3-betting here at all.

The turn play is ok. I might just call the threebet as UTG's coming to life usually means a flush, though sometimes is 44 or 66. I'm certainly not folding with a 10-outer and boatload of implied odds (pun not intended).

River check is fine.

BTW, preflop stats are great, but work on postflop reads. How does UTG generally play his flush draws? What range of hands can SB have here -- does he overplay Aces or TPTK, or is he going to have QQ the vast majority of the time? These things are helpful to know.

I'm counting the last J as an out too Of course maybe discounting the FH outs some is good.

I fold that flop and am fine with the rest.
