Default Gotta get in line to beat up on Negreanu heads-up...

Barry G and others beat David to the punch:

"On a totally unrelated note, I’ve received interest from several players to play heads up for $500,000. Eli Elezra, Johnny Chan, Sammy Farha, and Barry Greenstein have already shown some interest. In fact, it looks like Barry and I will likely play 10 matches in 10 different games schedule permitting."

Farha is going to rip him apart in Omaha.

it doesn't matter if he loses. wynn is probably backing some of this since he didn't get the big game to leave Bellagio. this is all PR. and greenstein and farha and the like are going to profit a little bit, because Steve & Dan need to draw crowds.

Of this, there is little doubt.

It does matter though.

Imagine how much respect from the average poker watcher he will lose by getting his butt kicked by a buncha people?

Everyone is too quick to rule Daniel out. First of all, the guy is very, very good at poker. Farha may be a better heads up Omaha player, but Daniel is probably close enough that variance could swing it his way. It's not like he's destined to lose every match.

I agree.

But the guys challenging him(with the exception of Greenstein) are going to challenge them in their best game.

I wonder if Ted Forrest comes up with some cash to do this as well(stud right?)

don't you see that Dan, Steve, and ANYONE who plays Dan when it's said pro's best game wins?

any historian of this town and this game (vegas & poker) should be able to see that this is an attempt to re-create what binion and moss did so many years ago.

it worked then...it'll work now. i think it's genius, and everybody who eats this up (including me) are all perfectly falling into the plan.

I would imagine the biggest edge over Daniel that any one of these players have at their best game is like 20% and that might be too high considering this is heads up. As a result he will not be really getting his butt kicked unless they play a long drawn out series of matches, in the short term he'll likely lose a little more than he wins. He can then attributed that to the fact that he is playing people in their best game and not his (or a spread of mixed games.)

The match with Greenstein will be very interesting, though even that match won't prove much...
