Default Re: how do you keep track of all your accounts?

I've been using Money for 3 days now and find it much more palatable than using Excel. I use Qucken for all my other finances and Money only for poker stuff.

On Excel I was just keeping track of running balances, etc. With Money it's much easier to view reports on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. So far I have 2 Income Categories. Poker Winnings - Ring and Poker Bonuses. I have sub-categories on both as I will keep the different limits separated from one another and under the bonus category I will track each site seperately.

It only takes a few seconds after each session to update the numbers.

So far this was a great idea. Whoever it was that recommended this. Thanks.

I started with Excel but after a few months I can see this spreadsheet is going to eventually get rediculously large and hard to keep organized.

I tried MS Money and didn't like it. I have used Quicken in the past and thought Money was not nearly as good.

I have a new version of Quickbooks anyway so I made a new company for Poker in that. It looks good so far. It might be better than Quicken for figuring things like depreciation allowance of computer monitors and milage allowance expenses of traveling to casinos. Maybe Quicken would do that to, I don't remember.

I don't see any need to enter results of every session. I have PT anyway where I can find most of that stuff. I plan on entering total winnings/loses for each poker site once a month or right before and after clearing a bonus. That would probably make sense.

Does anybody here use pokercharts.com? I'm about 3 weeks into their free trial, and undecided as to whether I'm going to pay for the service. It's $20/year, and seems to keep pretty good detail. It could use a little better filtering system, but I suppose I could export the data out and make my own.

I'm not sure I'd actually get anything out of it to make me a better player, but as far as organizing everything for tax time, and tracking your progress, it seems decent. Thoughts?

Just an OpenOffice spreadsheet. I just keep track of my wins, losses, bonus money/rakeback, and hands played. I just check PT at the end of the day and add that info into the spreadsheet. I hope every single hand I have ever played is enough of a paper trail.
