Default RESULTS

I called the river expecting to lose the hand. I really thought he had A7.

He turned over A [img]/forums/images/icons/heart.gif[/img] T [img]/forums/images/icons/heart.gif[/img] and my hand was good.

Default Re: Top pair, top kicker - 4 bet on the flop.

I read this entire thread, and had one big question. Other than the lack of pre-flop raising UTG, was there any other real evidence that QQ was very unlikely? Although I'm a relative newbie, I've been on the bad end of a dozen or so hands involving people slowplaying big pairs (and not just AA).

My paranoia aside, I did like how you played the (although I thought you were going to lose as well!).

There are few instances when limping in with QQ is correct especially UTG.

I might limp with QQ if I'm on the button or something and the whole table has limped.

I might limp with QQ if I'm on the button and the whole table has folded to me and I'm just contesting the blinds and I feel like they were tight and would fold if I raised.

I might limp with QQ if the table was short-handed as to not reveal the strength of my hand and I had position.

But if I'm UTG in a full game, I'm preflop raising with QQ almost every time.

I think most players do. If you're playing with people who routinely limp in UTG with KK or QQ they are making a mistake. You might lose sometimes to these guys but more often than not, you'll showdown something that you wouldn't have stayed in with if they had raised and beat them.

My $.02

I suspect that he either had a set, AQ, or A of hearts, and another heart.

I would call the turn and river, and pray for a King on the river, preferably the King of hearts. The Ace on the turn doesn't change a thing, you are ahead or behind regardless of what your opponent has, but you do have some extra outs if he has a set.

Very frisky for that game! Glad you won. He was probably more nervous than you when that heart didn't come.
