Re: rant
[ QUOTE ]
I call bull. Being anti-PC became PC a long, long time ago. So what's your explanation for situations like the NFL? Here are some reasons people give for not hiring people: "He just gave me a bad vibe" "His style just doesn't jibe with mine" Here's an often-given reason for hiring someone: "He reminds me of me when I was that age" This is a disadvantage to certain groups. Do you see why? [/ QUOTE ] I do. But to put quotas on how many blacks or whites should be an executive is absurd. If I'm hiring, I'm going for the bst man or woman for the job. Period. And if I happen to have more in common with one than another, you know what? That's life. Maybe I hire one of two equally qualified candidates simply because he/she plays poker. Is that discrimination? Who cares? I can hire whom I please. Unless I work for the government, of course. If you work hard and are clearly the best candidate for a job, you will get ahead eventually. I don't care what color you are. |

I'm glad you've used this opportunity to (theoretically) hear the sound of your own voice. Bravo.

Re: rant
There's more meritocracy in judging athletes than in most standrard hiring situations, where other factors influence decisions.

Re: Diversity in Televised Poker
[ QUOTE ]
While there is still not much diversity in poker, I would say that African-Americans are making some tremendous leaps and bounds in the televised poker industry. There's news of Moneymaker possibly adopting a Nigerian child, as well. So, I'm interested in your opinions on this matter. His play, brilliant in your opinion? [/ QUOTE ] Definitely Phil Ivey. David Williams is getting much better though. I would say he's the second best. |

Re: Diversity in Televised Poker
What about the bald black dude who made the final table of the WCP recently on ESPN along with David Williams? Did anyone catch his name? Maybe he's third best.
