Default A9 UTG push this?

I think I've found a possible leak in my MTT game. This is pushing marginal hands in early positions.

This is a hand which occured in last nights pokerplex £15000 Guaranteed tournament. We are down to the last 60 odd players with 40 places paying. At this point I am one of the short stacks with 3BB on a table of 10. The table has generally been tight with only a couple of loose players in late position. My image would appear tight as I've been card dead for about 3 orbits. I receive A9o UTG and raise all-in.

A couple of questions.

1. Is this a good all-in raise UTG?

2. If not what is the minimum Ace you would raise here in early position?

With 3BB I think this is a definite push.

With ~8BB I would probably fold it UTG and wait for a better opportunity.

with 3bb and the blinds coming up, you're never ever going to get a better oppurtunity than this. you gotta push.

My first question would be how did you get down to 3BB in the first place? If it was by watching your stack get blinded away, you probably needed to be a little more aggressive before this point to try to maintain your chips, especially if the table is relatively tight as you said it was.
There's nothing wrong with pushing A9 there, because
a) You are going to be blinded into oblivion in a minute anyway
b) You have decent showndown odds against some hands that will call from the blinds like 88, 77, 66, maybe kq depending on how bad the blind players are.
c) Even if you are behind, with the stack you have, you have to give yourself a chance to make some chips, and you can only do that by putting them in the middle. I dont see any other option in this spot.

I didn't get blinded away in this tournament I lost a couple of decent sized pot a few orbits previous to this hand and couldn't catch a hand for a while. This hand was the best I had saw for about 3 or 4 orbits. Thanks for the comment as I was thinking I maybe overplayed this hand by going all-in.

With only 3 BB - you must push. And you should that your lucky stars that you have this kind of hand to do it with. With only 3BB, I believe the correct play is to push any 2.
