Say 3 players in the pot with about equal stacks. You flop trips on a monotone board in middle position, what is your best play? Sorry for the newbie question, but I play this situation different all the time and would like to know more experienced player's line of action.

[/ QUOTE ] Keep the pot small unless you improve. 3-handed, you're probably way ahead, but anyone who plays a big pot with you is at least going to have the A and may already have the flush. River value bets without a boat are a bad move. If the pot's been raised preflop, try to get all-in on the flop. If that's too big a raise, then keep the pot moderate and move in on a non-flush turn. |

You are not asking the right questions.
What you need to know is your opponents cards. Once you know them, you win. Focus on finding out what HE IS TELLING YOU, EVERY HAND. Learn to listen to him, and then all you have to do is basic division. What to do with a set on a monochrome board depends on whether your opponent has the flush now doesn't it : ) So, pay attention to how he plays flopped big hands. There is no rote method to playing anything. |
