what i'm wondering is would a move like this be +EV in the long run with no reads...i was half paying attention to the hand because i was eating one of those yoplait yogurts at the time but would anyone have done anything differently(fold the flop/check the river?) or was the river bet a no brainer.

With any kind of read on this player i might've c/r the flop, but i would have to have a pretty good idea what he had.

With that board and that action, I think this is +EV against all but the most calling station-ish players.

I don't know why people are telling you this is a good river bet. You will possibly fold out hands that you are splitting with, but that is not really worth the risk of getting called or raised by hands that are beating you. No one is going to believe that you played an overpair like this.

Edit: Tell yourself this truth (at least until you play against very tricky opponents - not SSNL) -- "Call, call, bet = draw that hit or draw that missed". Trust me on this one. Now look at your play in this hand. I am calling you here with ace high.

I don't like this. With everybody in the world seeing the flop you are bound to run into trips. If you get called and miss your draw you're screwed. Check-raising with a flush draw out of position on a paired board is basically hanging yourself out to dry.. when they call on a board like this you usually have to give them respect, and when you miss you're in trouble. Even if you do hit you could be drawing dead. I also don't want to expand the pot. As far as the river bet, I don't know. If you're sure they'll fold, which I'm not too sure you were, then go for it.

There are many draws he could have which include a 6, which is why I like the play. 67? 68? A6s?

Possible, but unlikely given the 6s on the turn and river. And if you DID have a 6 there, would you bet it out for the full pot? Very suspicious.

Bet the flop. He minraised, so that doesn't mean he will make a continuation bet at all. If you know the player to be aggressive, checkraise the flop. This is a huge flop for your hand, and if you could get all-in here, that would be almost as good as taking it down.
