Re: The Corporation

[ QUOTE ] Corporations will always put profit making ahead of the general well-being of society. [/ QUOTE ] No $#!^, Sherlock. The reason we start corporations is to make profit. [/ QUOTE ] This isn't actually true. There are some, albeit very few, corporations that do not sacrifice ethics to make a buck. In fact, many non-profit organizations are "incorporated." Like someone said earlier, the idea is to limit liability. However, many corporations put profits ahead of everything else. Vioxx - so what if it gives people heart attacks? we make a buck Exxon - so what if it cause global warming and pollutes the water? we make a buck Agent Orange - so what it caused birth defects? we made a buck McDonald's - so what if it's toxic? we'll call it food. we make a buck World Bank - so what if countries are stuck in poverty with no chance to escape? We want our interest! Those little kids without clean water will just have to die. *These are just opinions of Otis The Marsupial and should in no way be construed as defamation. (McD's Attorneys - 1st Amendment be damned, we get a buck from Otis - just kidding, I heart Attorneys) |
