Ok, I want everyone to put down what the best poker advice they have ever received. You can put the situation, or just a sentence, I think this would be a good learning thread also

There's a word for people who like to say "I'd rather be lucky than good" at the poker table . . .

Actually the first one to say it was a chess-player, Bent Larsen of DK. In his own estimation, he was at a time the second best player in the world.

Ejnar Pik, Southern-Docks.

You should always know why your results are what they are. Never EVER say you are playing through a downstring unless you know it to be true. Never say you are down because of a bad string of hole cards unless you know it is true. Same for saying your draws are not coming in. The raw data is in pokertracker and you can pull it out and create excell sheets to see how things are going for you.

Do not lie to yourself about your game. Find leaks. Fix them.

Patience, discipline and know when you're beaten. If you can lay a good hand down to a better hand you're on your way to endless riches... or at least a few dollars more than you started with.

Correct. Never confuse results with proper play, or improper play as it were.

The word for those who say they'd rather be lucky than good (and mean it)?

Loser.
