Re: What to do with a scary river.
[ QUOTE ]
I don't know if there's a single person I'd ever fold to a check/raise on this river in this hand. If there is, I haven't played against him yet. [/ QUOTE ] I think that a river check/raise here, especially if i comes from UTG+1 after UTG calls, says "I can beat AK." Plus, that card completed two draws. I'm not saying that in the heat of the moment I'd fold, but this is our opportunity to understand situations like this one. |

Re: What to do with a scary river.
[ QUOTE ]
Why? (Okay, if this seals the case that I'm a nit, fine.) [/ QUOTE ] If it UTG C/Rs then I would probably fold if I'd played a decent number of hands with him, and if he seems passive/non-tricky. UTG+1 had a river aggro factor of 6, and there is no way Im laying down to that. |

Re: What to do with a scary river.
if one of them had two pair they would have probally check-raised the turn, which the hero would have then re-raised hoping they had AQ or a smaller two pair and not a set. but since 2 players checked-called him to the river and a 3-flush hit the board there was a good chance 1 of them was chasing it.

[/ QUOTE ] I completely agree with this. This is an easy check. |

Here, brett -- some useful info. [/ QUOTE ] Buuuuuuuuuurnnnn. On the poker side, I probably bet this, but half the time I think I check this. Man thats sad, so Im on the fence. UTG is the one u have to worry about. |

Re: What to do with a scary river.
I think the only time I don't bet this is if the river came with the 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] or 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Otherwise I feel pretty confident that bet/call would be the most profitable play. Not that I would like the call part the majority of the time, but I think more than 1 out of 13 times I will be shown a worse hand

Re: What to do with a scary river.
[ QUOTE ]
with 2 players check-calling you down to the river with that flop, you have to figure 1 of the 2 was on a flush draw. with that said i don't think taking a free showdown here is a bad play, i do think losing 2 bets to a check raise when you figure 1 of the 2 probally hit their flush is a bad play. [/ QUOTE ] weak tight, yeah!! You obviously haven't played party 2/4 very much. anyone with an aces is calling, even if they hit a K, they'll probably call, party fishies are bad. |
