Personally, I like calling the turn, then raising the river if he bets it, or betting if he checks.

I've yet to see a fully understandable reason to call this turn. I'm sure it's right, but please elaborate. Thanks.

Because this happens -

Miles says "I had QQ here and folded to his turn raise."

So a raise loses you a BB you probably would've gained on the river.

Anyone else fold the flop? You're drawing to 3 outs and only getting 8:1.

call.
when the river is a blank and he checks, you bet, and he makes a crying call. result is one extra bet for you.

a a pre-flop 3-bet from a good player (miles), over the top of a raise from another strong player (zero) usually means the 1st player (miles) has a premium pair (TT-AA) or AQs or AK.

when an A turns, if miles doesn't have an A (he has TT-KK) he's drawing to 2 outs (a set) against zero's pair of A's. however miles, whether he has an A or not, doesn't know what zero has and needs to bet out without fear. if zero raises the turned A, its easy for miles to get away from his hand if he doesn't have an A (& of course b/c the pot is small)

if miles does have an A, it's AA, AK, AQ; all hands that beat zero's AJ; and miles 3-bets right back at zero.

if zero called the turn, miles likely fires again on a non-A, non-K river and probably calls those river cards and zero wins 2 bb (vs the 1 when he raised the turn and miles folded) and possible 3 if zero raises a miles river bet and miles calls.

Yeah but there are some reasons to raise against a thinking player here. If I were the villian in the hand and I knew you were a 2+2er, I would call down the raise with a hand like KK or QQ KNOWING that you don't have an ace when you raise the turn.

shill, if you are miles and call a turn raise, how close are you to folding to a river bet if he passes on a free showdown? i'm still thinking in micro mode where "if you call the turn, you should call the river".. but it seems as you move up, there's more merit to folding to the final bullet.. if you can post a prototypical situation where this would be correct, i'd like to see it.

original hand: yeah, pick up the one bet per street line.

If I understand correctly the reason for not raising this turn is because you know that your opponent is a good player, and that he knows you are a good player. Against a total Random raising would still be correct here, because they are more likely to call you down, and you gain a bet. Right? And is raising AJo UTG+1 a standard play?
