You don't give a location, can we assume Bumfuck?

It also appears that they ommitted the word "job" from your Title.

You put teachers in the same pay scale as electricians? LOL. Again, the ignorance. Anyway, please remind me if you will what baseball players make a year and compare that with teachers make. Does any of it really make sense?

yes. it makes a lot of sense, for the same reasons that dealers, attractive cocktail waitresses, etc, make what they do in tips: they are providing entertainment and a service. theree is an aggreed upon value for that. Also, when a dealer can expect a tip every pot, if they deal well, it makes sense that encourages them to keep the game moving...

IMO failing to tip people like dealers and bellhops and drivers isn't nesesarily wrong, but it totally lacks class...

edit: of course, if somebody's doing a crappy job, i don't tip...

so it makes sense to you that our countrys' "agreed up value" for teaching our children is roughly $30,000 a year where as a ballplayer might make the same amount of money in the top of first?

That certainly does seem to be the consensus that the country has arrived at. Personally, I find it abhorrent, but since no one died and left me in charge of everything, what I think doesn't really amount to much.

I was not talking about Mississippi, I was talking about Arkansas. Since you called me ignorant, please enlighten me with the various casinos in Arkansas (not that I will ever go).

There's a big huge river between Arkansas and Mississippi, but there's this neat thing called a bridge that lets us dumb rednecks get across without drowning.

Im not saying abll players should make more but whats BRINGS in more money schools or professional sports. plus there is no argument that being a professional sports guy is a very skilled position, and it is acceptable that skilled postions make more then unskilled positions. again this is not comparing teachers to athletes just stating that athletes bring in all types of money and are very skilled people as far as their trade goes. doesnt the top doctor in his field make huge sums of money? why should it be diffrent for atheletes? they are the very best in their repsective field.

Isn't a teacher a skilled person? Does the top teacher make the most money in the profession? Nope, that honor goes to the one who teaches the longest.

Many people forget that teachers probably provide one of the most valuable and necessary services, but get paid very little especially considering the amount of education they need (4 years for a Bachelor's, 1-2 years for a Credential.) An athlete making league minimum provides none of these services, but could pay 8-10 teachers' salaries very easily.
