Default Winner\'s Guide to Omaha Poker by Ken Warren

I am a brand new Omaha/8 (high-low split) player and I am wondering whether or not I should read Ken Warren's book Winner's Guide to Omaha Poker. Has anyone read this book? What do you think about it for Omaha/8?

I am a little skeptical because in Malmuth's book Gambling Theory and Other Topics he seems to not rate Ken Warren's books very high (but Malmuth did NOT review this particular book). Basically, I don't want to read something that will get me off on the wrong foot.

I have three books about Omaha/8 coming in the mail (Omaha/8 and Stud/8 for Advanced Players by Ray Zee, Play Poker Like the Pros by Phil Hellmuth, and Super System 2) but I was wondering if I should read Ken Warren's book while I am waiting because I already have it.

P.S. Feel free to give any comments on this book and any others, just remember that I am only interested in Omaha/8 right now, and NOT Omaha (high only).

Can you return it? (Serious question.)

The books you ordered through the mail are much better.

I only spent about ten minutes looking at the book but it seemed to me it war far more geared toward Omaha high as opposed to high/low.

Prodigy,

Since you are new to O-8 reading chapters 4, 5 & 6 on reading your hand would be a good exercise while you wait for the other books. Skip the rest.

I think it's only for high, and I think it's pretty much crap anyway. I would buy either Super System 2 or Zee's book on HL Split Poker.

From a strategic perspective, just about anything Ken Warren writes is worthless, and can do more harm than good.

It's actually about Omaha8, but the way the text is written makes this quite confusing, even for someone who has read the whole thing.

I'm not a big fan of it. I think I'd recommend skipping it. At the very least, expect to unlearn a few things.
