[ QUOTE ]
I know some casinos have rules that say you CAN LIE about your hand but you CANNOT TELL THE TRUTH about your hand. [/ QUOTE ] I was just discussing this same point with said buddy - that rule (if true, which I doubt) makes ZERO sense. If that was the rule, and everyone followed it, then lying about your hand would in fact be giving information about your hand, because your opponent now knows what you DON'T have, because otherwise you wouldn't be following the rule. You see how stupid that is? |

P.S. Your friend's a joke if he let you limp in when he had AK, even if only the top 3 pay.

Technically you can't reveal the contents of your hand, though as pointed out you put in a little cavaet ("hands like"). The other thing is in my home game we're forever coffeehousing like this. It's part of the fun of the home game. If this were my game I'd have no problem with what transpired and would expect to hear similar things a dozen time during the night.
As someone else above said I'd never do this in a casino setting. |

ahahahahaha! that's funny shiz!
Keep on keepin' on mang. You didn't do anything wrong. It's true that you cannot reveal the contents of your hand in a tournament. You can in a live game. You did not reveal the contents of your hand, you were just trash talking. perfectly normal, perfectly legal. yes, that statement SHOULD have thrown him off your actual hand. I'm assuming you pointed at the flop when you said it. he's a buffoon for taking it as "I don't have XX". Had you said, "I have two pair." or "I have a K7 right now." then THAT would be illegal. You didn't tell him that's what you had, so no blood no foul. |

right after I limp in with K7 and the flop comes K78. I reply, verbatim, "that's because I've been playing garbage like K7." [/ QUOTE ] Next time say 'garbage like K8.' Problem solved |

Stop being a dick. [/ QUOTE ] At my weekly home game we have a rule that you can't expose your cards for the purpose of eliciting a reaction or tell anybody what your [real] cards are while the hand is in play. what you did was rude IMO but had you done it our game you would have just been asked to not do it again, that's all. |

My best friend Dave is a pretty awful card player but this is a story of the night he had his revenge and there is one hand (against me) that is somewhat relevant to this story. A bunch of my buddies and I went to this local carnival over the summer about three blocks from my house to see a guitar player who plays the bars around here perform. Needless to say we got hammered before and during the carnival. Afterward we decided to head back to my house for a drunken 10 dollar buyin SnG type game. I think there were eight of us.
Anyway, Dave is playing his usual style, aka getting drunk off his ass, and making wild bets etc, but he gets lucky ALL NIGHt and in the end it's he and I heads up, winner take all and I have a tiny chip lead. As my buddy Ryan deals the second or third hand of the heads up match, everone's still hanging out getting even more drunk (as are the two of us) mind you, Dave grabs his first card and without looking says "Ace" Then grabs his second card and without looking says "Ace". I look down from the button and see KK., so I raise. Dave looks at his cards and goes all-in, I call, and wouldn't you know it, Dave turns over two aces and wins the money. It was pretty hilarious actually. But I guess now according to your friend I could say his hand was dead because he's obviously a psychic who cheated. Good luck all, Matt |

No problem that I can see. My home games work the same way. Trash talk is part of home poker. It's not your fault he didn't read you right. Cheers.

If it's illegal, it shouldn't be IMO.
