Why did you check the turn?

What made you think he had a 4?

Why not just bet out?

You made the hand a lot harder to play now.

Why check the turn:

A limp from his position could be Axs so I was concerned about 2 pair as well as the possible straight.

What made you think he had a 4?
See above.

Why not just bet out?
I believe there are a lot of ways I'm beat.

You made the hand a lot harder to play now.

Raise PF. You probably have the best hand. If you don't you probably have 2 live cards.

Bet the turn. You probably have the best hand.

Seeing only the danger and none of the value in your hands is timid. Timidity doesn't win at poker.

You might be beat. But then again, you might not.

It looks like MP2 is just taking a shot at you because you showed weakness. You should have just bet the turn, and reevaluate if he raises. A check/raise is spewing, because it'll get awfully expensive if you're behind.

You might have been in a good position to check raise the flop. Once you bet the flop and he calls I think you've got to keep betting HU with this hand until you meet some resistance.

You don't want to check raise the turn. There is an interesting heads up play which is called, way ahead/way behind (WA/WB). This is when you're in a situation like this where you could be a long way in front or a long way behind. If you're behind you want to lose the minimum. If you're ahead you want to win the maximum. You win the maximum by keeping your opponent in the pot, (on a drawless board.)
If he has a 4 now you are drawing almost dead, (you could split the pot if a 4 falls on the river). If you're in front, you're probably in front by a long way. Checkraising will probably make him fold if you're ahead and make him 3 bet if you're behind, neither of which is good. As you played it, I would call the bet on the turn and check/call the river.
Raising this preflop would have put you in the driving seat, and heads up that's where you want to be. You should have been aggressive there. Don't play timid and hope. Play strong and bully.

I actually like to raise this preflop if I have a read om MP. If he is at all aggressive, you can bet he is weak here with that limp, and you may be able to get him to fold some better hands on the flop with a preflop raise.
After checking the turn, which I wouldn't have done, I think a raise is only going to fold a weaker hand. Since you checked, I would go ahead and check/call the turn, check/call the river, maybe check/raise the river.
