Default Thunderbird questions

Planning to hit Thunderbird in OK after work and I had a few questions for those of you who have been there or work there.

1. How's the waitlist on a Friday night?
2. Do they spread 1-2 NL?
3. How is the food situation?
4. Is there booze?
5. Is there smoking in the room?

Thanks,
GooseEye

Hey and Welcome to the Cardroom....

I am a dealer there and will be working tonight.. so here are the answers to your questions..

1. Wait list... well since the room has been open 24 hrs.. may be a few bits.. but you can call ahead.. and ask to be put on the list...

2. The NL spread is 2-5.. we had 3 games of 2-5 going last night out of 12 total tables...LOTS of action..

3. We have a snack bar in the poker room.. BBQ sandwiches and hotdogs.. guys say the BBQ is great.. There is a restaurant in the casino and they have very good food... OH but no food at the tables..

4. BOOZE??? Hell yeah.. they have 1 buck draft specials until around 7 pm...

5. Only smoking is the steam coming from the guy on tilt at the end of the table.. smoking is allowed outside the cardroom in the casino...

SEE you tonight...

Didn't realize you could call ahead. Good to know! Last Friday I waited for almost an hour. I wasn't planning on going out there tonight since I don't have a ton of time, but seeing as I can call and get on the list before I ever show up, I might just change my mind

Thanks!

BTW, the phone number I have is 1-800-259-5825 if anyone was wondering. If there is a phone number I can use to call the card room directly, please let me know.

The number to the casino is 405-360-9270. Ask for the Poker Room and they will get you hooked up...

Bummer. Calling ahead to get on the list is no longer an option.

Well it figures.. every day it's a new rule or the old rule is back...

I've been showing up for work on days they say I am scheduled off and then was a "no call, no show" for two days when I had been told I was off..

They changed my work schedule after I left work on Sunday and when I showed up after my days off, I was informed that I had missed a day... wasn't notified of the change..

This affected a lot of the dealers...

But keep playing... the dealers are having a great time.. loving it.... if we can just get the kinks worked out...

I was mildly peeved on Friday when a someone who called in while I was standing there was first told they couldn't get on the wait list by phone and then the guy relented and put him on before me. Also there were those on the 3-6 after me that got seated before me.

But all was good when I finally got seated. Played for 6 hours (jiminy!) and we at the west end of table three were having a GREAT time. Was cool to meet you Sara

It was my pleasure to deal you some hands and push you some pots!!!

Yeah I had no idea how they were doing the call in's... But they shouldn't be put on above a player who is there waiting.. I thought they had a separate list for those who called in..and then would add them in after the waiting players were seated.. (Oh if it were my poker room!!!)

word of warning.. watch out for Maudie.. she is one cool player...

Come see me again!!!

Sarah

Saturday was a little screwy too. For about 10 minutes, they kept making announcements to all of the dealers asking if there were any open seats, and (repeatedly) getting no response. It was getting a little annoying. At one point, they were asking each table individually if there were any open seats. 10 or 15 minutes after that, my table gets 2 open seats at once, then another one a couple of hands later. Each time, our dealer clearly announced that there were seats open and how many. There were quite a few people on the rail and we thought it was odd that no one was on the list for 3/6. About 15 minutes later we get 3 players in a pretty quick span of time. One is complaining that he had to wait 1:45 for a seat and the others agree. Not sure what happened there. I think after everyone out there has a couple more weeks to get the bugs worked out things will run smoother. Overall though, it's still a lot of fun.

I'm looking forward to them getting the BBJ up and running. From what I was told, it will be a flat $2k put up by Bud Light, so no extra rake for the jackpot. I was told that it will probably be aces full beat by quads or better, so it will be very hard to hit, but many people on here have said that typically the jackpot tables feature much worse play, in general. Sounds like a good thing to me. Of course, things seem to change in a hurry, so this may or may not actually happen.
