Default OK, I\'m sick of busting out in these MTT.

I just can't figure out the balance of surviving and accumulating. So, I better start getting advice. Played three hands in this $30 PP MTT.

First hand
UTG+1 limps, I limp with A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 2 limpers behind and both blinds in for the ride. Pot T90, 6 see a flop of

A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

BB leads with T95 and only UTG+1 and I call.

Turn A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] - Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Pot T375 Checked to me. I bet T250. BB folds and UTG+1 calls.

River Turn A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] - 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

UTG+1 bets T200, I call. I was nearly drawing dead to K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].

OK, no problem. I've got T440 and I can just double up a few times.

Hand 2 I fold J7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Hand 3
I pick up 77 UTG and limp. 1 EP limper and then MP raises to T100. It's cold called by button and BB I fold and EP calls.

Flop is TT7. My preflop fold was correct right?

Hand 4 I fold 73 in the BB after a raise.

Hand 5
MP makes a minimum raise to T30 and its folded to me in SB with QQ. I raise to T90 and he comes over the top to T270. It's all in time, but against AA.

Comments appeciated.
A hui hou,
Adam

I'm not limping with 77 there. I would only limp if I planned lr/r allin becuase I'm just that damn drunk or tilted.

limping is the correct play with 30BBs UTG with a mid PP. Bug, don't tell me you are raising low PPs UTG to steal blinds in the first level?

I agree. The beginning levels of the small Party tourny's seem to be consistently loose, so I nearly always limp with small pockets to try and hit that set.

I don't limp with the AJ.

I do fold the J7s.

I do limp with the 77.

I try not to pick up QQ vs AA.

Would you open the AJ up front later in the tourny when players get tighter?

Howzit!

1) Don't limp early with AJo... Raise or fold.

2) Do limp with 77 and all small and middle pairs early in a tourney. Easy to get away from if you're mega raised or miss the flop.

3) Fold 7-3 in any position unless it's folded to you on the button or cutoff and the blinds/button are weak. Then maybe raise to steal if you feel you can get away from the hand if you are played back at. This is when the blinds are big enough to justify a steal of course.

4) QQ v AA sucks, is bad timing for you, and is how crappy players can accumulate lots of chips. You might have figured it was a coinflip at best and let it go or seen the flop. If no A or K comes you probably lose all of your chips anyway. QQ is a hand you should be more careful with than I think is generally advised. At least it is for me.

Side note: Busted out in 20th in the 50k on Paradise today with QcQd v Ac9c so I may be feeling it a bit more than usual. Villain made an unlikely flush on the river and I was not happy.

All in all you didn't make huge mistakes and mostly got unlucky.

That's poker.

On hand 3, it was ok to limp, but wrong to fold for 100.
The implied odds you are getting makes it a very basic correct play to call.

At the start of hand 3, I've only got T440 chips. Minus the T15 for the call and I've got T425 looking at implied odds of 625:100 (My limp 15, EP limp 15, 100 from raiser, 2 callers, SB 10, and the additional 325 if I hit my set) I think I have to fold here.

Waialua, huh? I played in one of those Waialua tournaments about a year ago and it was horrible. The blinds doubled every round and there were so many absolute beginners that they slowed down the game to the point where I was playing 5 hands in a 30 min round. It would have been easy pickings if the structure were modified and the flow was better.
