To Dave G:

I still dont see how you get a 4% chance that he has an 8.

First, looking at the original post, I assumed that both an 8 and a king would play the hand the same way up to the turn. Is this unreasonable?

I did qualify my post by saying "Statistically speaking". It's just a statistical calculation of the chances of him having the 4th 8.

Assuming that an 8 and a K would play it the same way is fine. However, any hand with an A could conceivably play like this too, so you can't limit it that simply.

I'm saying that there's a reasonable chance hero is beaten here. I'm not saying that it's certain.

thanks for the link brain. lesson learned. After the hand the villian did say that he was worried about the 8's on flop, so leading out may have taken it down there. Thanks again.
