Re: Rumor: Mohegan Sun closing their poker room
BigLick, staying on I-95 till exit 92 isn't nearly the fastest route to Foxwoods. Next time you are going to Foxwoods, try the back way, it takes you right past Mohegan and you can't get lost.
Get off I-95 at exit 76 to I-395 N. Then take exit 79A to route 2A. Instead of taking the exit for Mohegan Sun Boulevard, drive past it. You'll cross a bridge and come to a stop light. Follow the signs from there to Foxwoods (you take a left at the light, then a quick right. Stay on that road for a couple of miles till route 2, take a right and follow that to Foxwoods). It'll take you 10 to 15 minutes from Mohegan to Foxwoods. |

Re: Rumor: Mohegan Sun closing their poker room
Door to door -- from the time you get in your car at Mohegan to the time you get out at FW -- it takes more like 20-25 minutes in my experience. If you are coming from the south and only going to one or the other, it's about the same in time whether you take 95 to 92 or get off at 76 and take the back roads (distance less on back roads, but driving speeds slower.)

Re: Rumor: Mohegan Sun closing their poker room
You are indeed going the wrong way. Foxwoods and Mohegan are less than 9 miles apart. Do not stay on I-95 to get to Foxwoods. Go to Mohegan and go to Foxwoods from there. Go past Mohegan Sun Blvd and turn on to route 2A (I think) Take a right at the first light and follow the signs to Foxwoods. Trust me. It's less than 15 minutes, and you can obey all posted speed limits.
The reason you have out of the way directions from the NY area to Foxwoods, is the same reason that people coming from Boston/Providence get out of the way directions to Mohegan. The fastest way to the further casino takes you right past the other casino. The people who run one casino don't want you driving buy the other Tribe's casino to get there. |

Re: Rumor: Mohegan Sun closing their poker room
I was at Mohegan this weekend playing some Hold Em and tried to get to the bottom of some of the questions asked in these posts.
Regarding the potential closing of the poker room: I asked a few of the people working the board down there and they assured me that there poker tables are not going anywhere. The casino is happy with the poker room and it's staying put. On a side note, a few expressed concerns over the games at Mohegan. I was playing 5/10 with a kill, and the action was great. In addition, the higher end games were full, with main games and must move tables. Looked like a healthy poker room to me. If anyone is in the area, I recommend giving it a try. |
