Mirage 10/20, 6 handed. Game is pretty tight, except for 1 psuedo LAG 2 seats to my right. He seems to be liberal with bets/raises on the cheap streets, but slows down on the turn. New player posts behind the button.

All 3 streets to be honest.

Here were my thoughts at the time:

On the flop I was getting approx 11-1 on a call and 5.5-1 on a raise. A call seemed worthless as it would not define my hand at all. The poster gets a cheap look at the turn with 12-1 and the SB will most certainly lead again on the turn. A raise might knock out the poster and set up the SB to fold QQ/JJ on the turn. If the poster calls 2 on the flop or the SB 3-bets, I can give up the play on the turn.

Given the action, I plan to bet pretty much anything on the turn except for a Q or J, and fold if checkraised.

I couldn't imagine the SB would fold any hand that beats me on the river for 1 more bet, so I checked behind. Do you see value in 1 more river bet?

I'm not sure the SB folds often enough to make this play profitable. Does the typical 10/20 player fold QQ or JJ on this turn? Say the range of hands I put him on is AA-TT, AK-AJ.

AA, KK, TT, and AK have me dominated. AQ and AJ each have 7 outs, though he only knows about 4 of them. QQ and JJ may fold the turn, but definitely not if a Q or J falls (either one of which stops me from betting).

In this case, the SB held AQ and took the pot.

It feels weak, but I think the combination of circumstances, including the late position poster, could turn this into a fold on the flop.

Well then the hand played out perfectly for you. You were the one betting/raising on the flop and turn when you were ahead, and checked the river when you were behind.

Also, I think your hand range for SB is too narrow. This is shorthanded.

[/ QUOTE ] Too ambiguous of a question. Your read is that sb is loose/aggressive, so go with your instinct. He could have a big range of hands if read this is correct.

That's exactly why your check should be fine. He would have 3-bet you on the flop with any king, so what's he hanging around for? I think you may give him a bit too much credit (based on the lag description), but the river is still a bit too coordinated for me to bet.

Although if you did bet, it is not far from wrong, if lag is also a calling station.
