Checking the turn, call the river? 2-4 NL on UB
Early position ($405) doubles the blind to $8. I have no info on this player. I am on the button ($376) with QQ. I make it $30 to go. Everyone folds except the initial raiser.
Flop is Kd 3h 4d. Checked to me. I bet $40. EP calls. Turn is 4h. We both check. River is Th. He bets $146. I fold. Without any read this seems like an obvious fold to me. Even though I checked and would be willing to call a bet, I felt $146 seemed too much. The most painful thing in reviewing this hand is this player is one of the worst players I have ever seen. I didn't notice the previous hand where he had his starting stack of $200 all-in on a T92 board with K2 and caught a king on the turn to double him up and bust out an AA. Later on he was generous enough to double me up with his T4o vs my AA. This time he didn't catch another pair. Assuming I noticed this hand I would have called. Ken |

Re: Checking the turn, call the river? 2-4 NL on UB
Given that you didn't notice your opponent was a donkey (like I did since I was playing at the same table as you), I would bet the turn and then check the river. Your turn check just begs some opponents to take it from you on the river, which he did.

Re: Checking the turn, call the river? 2-4 NL on UB
But assuming I checked like I did, call or fold the big bet on the river?
And lets say I take the line you propose and bet the turn. I assume I can safely fold if he leads into me on the river? Ken |
