Default Too passive?

Ladbrokes 5/10, 6 handed

I pick up K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG and raise. I get 3-bet by an unknown player in CO and the very loose/passive button cold calls. Both blinds folds and I call. Flop comes

K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

I check, CO bets, button calls and I call. Turn is

6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I check, CO bets, button calls and I call. River is

J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

I check, CO checks and button checks.

I feel I played this one way to passive. What do you think?

definetly passive in my book

there are only 3 people in the pot and you flopped high pair middle kicker
the preflop raiser and other caller probably have Ax or other pair
the chances of someone holding a 7 is slim

for these reasons i think checking is weak
depending on my stack, the other stacks, my hands shown thus far, and their personalities

if i was large stack and had shown some nice strong hands i would have bet the pot...and backed down to a reraise

if not I woud throw a half pot bet

just my two cents...

I agree that you were too passive here. I think you should check/raise the flop and take it from there.

Kludde:

It may be too passive, but I take this line a lot vs a preflop 3-bettor. I know that the presence of the 3rd player kind of complicates things, but I don't think showing aggression on the flop or turn for the purpose of pushing out the other opponent is all that important. He is not folding a hand that on that board that you want him to fold.

But if you take this line, I would have led the river and called a raise.

Thank you. Pretty much what I wanted to hear.

I agree. And that's probably what bugged me the most about this hand.

If I get 3-bet, I'm pretty much committed to see a showdown, even though it is highly unlikely I am ahead. If he folds, well then he probably folded a hand which had at most 3 outs against me and I really don't want him to toss those. What's your reason behind a check-raise?

i think i know what youre getting at...and i imagine that someone would flat call preflop with AKo but you would know soon enough on the flop by a reraise, either way i would bet .

KJ is a marginal hand and the pot is big enough that foe may hang around for checking to pair an ace or something, i think its worth the flop bet to drive that away

plus it would give foe a chance to either fold (giving you a good take) or demonstrate a better hand ...then you could decide whether to fold at that point,,,but you never know until you bet into him

what do you think ?
