The check raise on the river seems highly donkish... [/ QUOTE ] It'd suck if he checked through, but I thought there's high probability that he'd bet with his KK. I'm thinking on the lines of, what would I do if I was in his position and checked to on the river?? |

What makes you think he doesn't have AK and check behind? All of his play is justifyable with AK (although not exactly correct).

Re: Handreading posts seem to be in nowadays
I would say villan has Q10 or a weaker Q.
hero: AQ, QQ, JJ. JJ would get my vote. Ben post grunch: I am bad. |

The check raise on the river seems highly donkish... [/ QUOTE ] I like the check-raise. A lot. Against a reasonably aggressive opponent this should be clearly +EV. |

Yes, if he has this one specific holding he *might* check behind. Then again, he might fold if we lead off so it's not clear that we've lost anything by going for the check-raise. Much more often villain will have something like the hand he's representing and will bet now that we've shown weakness on the river. It's a calculated gamble, but I don't think you could ever convince me that it's not +EV. I don't think this is close. |

Hero = 99.
Villain = KK. Fancy check-raise on the river. |

Re: Handreading posts seem to be in nowadays
From a distribution standpoint, there are more combinations of AK than KK or JJ (now I'm assuming that we know Hero has AA). I think how villian plays AK on the river here is the motivating force for a bet vs. c/r.
If villain would call but not bet AK, bet the river. You lose out on a bet when villain has KK or JJ but gain a bet when villain has AK, which is more likely. If villain would bet but not call AK, c/r the river. This is a great situation because you get 2 bets out of KK and JJ, and you get 1 bet as opposed to none out of AK. |
