Default First time at Foxwoods- or any casino....

hi all,

Going to Foxwoods this weekend with my brother and friends for a long weekend of guy time and poker. I've never played casino poker before, though I have played alot of live home poker and several local tourneys etc.

I got 1.5k to blow (not that I'm planning on blowing it ) and would like some info on the games. I play .50/$1 NL on UB, some $1/$2 limit, some stud.

I've read that the baby NL game is pretty horrendous. Is that $1/$2 NL? Is there a $2/$5 game? Probably going to play some $3/$6 limit too. Tell me whats fun and would be a good time and memorable experience!

Any advice on what not to miss while I'm there? Things besides poker I mean.

regards,
Tim

haven't played the 1/2 NL in a while at FW but from what I remember it is a really weak game with a huge charge. It's $5/half hour so its harder to beat in the long term with $100 coming off the table every hour. Variance is large in that game as people will often play just about any 2 before the flop. There is no 2/5 NL at FW just the no cap 5/5 game that usually runs 2-3 tables on a busy weekend night. That game can get pretty large with several regulars buying in for 10K plus on a normal basis.

On the limit side of things there is no 3/6 at FW just 2/4 and 4/8. They also have 5/10 but it is almost always killed from my experience making it a 10/20 with half blind structures. I have been making a habit of the 10/20 recently and it has been very good to be so that is my best reccomendation if you feel up to it. $1500 is fine for a weekend at any of the above limits except the 5/5 (where you are pushing it). good luck

They have stud coming out their ears there. The lower spread limit (1-3, 1-5) are kinda fun games, too, if you like the elderly (being an incipient member, I'm fine with them), and most of them need to have the term "raise" explained to them, so you probably won't have too tough a time running over the tables.

I find the Omaha $5/10 game to be pleasantly fishy. I also find that any $2/4 game is so heavily raked as to not be worth the bother. Yeah, you can beat the game, but you can beat the $4/8 games more than twice as much.

The $5/10 Kill Limit HE games are party time games, particularly if you like playing with maniacs. It's a sort of a $10/20 game that settles down to $5/10 after all the maniacs have busted out, while the good players and rocks wait for the next fish to sit down.

10k at a 5/5 game?? .....jeeebus.....

If any brown trouters are looking, I'm the guy with the blue walking cast on my right leg. I didn't get 12 tackles for losses in '95 but I did have 23 goals (3 shorthanded), 40 assists and 120 penalty minutes playing center back in '88

Yea, there are some pro's in that game that insist on having anyone who sits down covered, and if that means they need a wad of 200ish $100 bills then BOY HOWDY They're gonna have a wad of 200 $100 bills!!!

I've bad buddies sit down with $500-1k and have good success, but you can't really be part of the game with less than $400, you're just the kid they might double up a couple times, or they might take your whole stack, and not even bother shrugging their shoulders over it.

It doesn't look like that tough of a game to me, I've never sat just watched buddies play...but $50 PFR's are a bit steep for me, I'd rather play 5/10 or 10/20 I think. They really need a friggen $2/5 NL game
