Default Re: What is EV of top players in WSOP $10K?

now, if there are 6000 players ... not one of them will be better than 300-1 in my opinion

[/ QUOTE ]

I highly doubt anybody will be anywhere near as good as 300-1. I've often heard it said that in a typical tournament, a pro (especially a WCP) will be about 2 or 3 times as likely to win, compared to the average player in the field.

Now, I realize that the WSOP ME is definitely not an "average tournament", and the huge amount of dead money will significantly benefit the top players. But to say that it will make any one of them 20 times as likely to win (compared to the average player) seems tough to believe. I would say 1000-1 for the top players seems much more reasonable, and the "average" pro will likely be no better than 1500-1.

Of course, this is just speculation on my part. I'm sure other posters (DS, Fossilman, etc.) could make much more informed estimates.
