multi tabling

Newbie question: Is there special software to facilitate multi tabling or do you run multiple instances of the poker program and keep clicking on their task bar buttons? I'm thinking of Party Poker and Poker Room.

Just click on any table, and the poker client opens a new window with the table. Only 1 instance of the client needs to be running.
