Default I find this surprising

Hi Dave!

I kind of find this surprising, because I know you and I know you play well. I guess I also know you are extremely competetive, but you have a strong analytical side that knows how to properly look at each situation.

I don't go on tilt very often. Usually, I am losing and then I start to call a few too many hands in improper decision and play a little too passively post flop. After a few hands I notice this and decide if I can stop it or not, if I can't then I quit. If I can then I try to keep going.

But, you know me. I'm more like AL than yourself. I don't get upset at others when they outdraw I have lately been counting the pot and figuring how much I stood to make overall on that play. I get more mad at myself when I completely screw up a pot.

I sincerely hope you find what works for you. The poster that offered up the heads up advice, I think is dynamite. Your personality would suit heads up very well I think. I do'nt think I'd want to play you heads up, LOL. I imagine it's damn tough to find short handed / heads up here in calgary but online you should be able to get into lots of games.

Anyways, I really hope you are able to figure out what it is you need to do to get back in the game because we both know you are a winning player. I hope to be spending some time at the elbow in a couple of weeks and hope to see you guys there. Still working on a bankroll to sit the 15-30.

"I rather suspect that putting him in a SH game is like handing a needle to a heroin addict."

After spending 4 hours playing shorthanded on paradise today, I can attest that this is a VERY apt description.

dave, if playing short-handed is like needling a heroin addict, and you can't handle a full table, then whatcha gonna do? Obviously you're too knowledgeable to quit and deny your true self, so again, whatcha gonna do?

Instead of playing poker you could spend that money on cheap booze and cheaper women?

Reminds me of a great quote I hear from an older man once:

"I spent 80% of my money on gambling, booze and women and pissed the rest away"

That's an old Benny Hill line, "I spent most of my money on women and wine, I squandered the rest".

Most sports/competitions don't require as much patience as poker. Focus on beating your opponents by playing better hands.

The Red Baron of WWI fame always tried to have an edge over his opponents. Mostly in involved flying with the sun at his back. Always have an edge on your opponents, play better hands, have better position.
